Day 47 – February 16th

Today was quite the doozy indeed.
I had my practicum  8:30am – 3:00pm
Then I had work at my new bartending gig 6:30pm – 4:00am
Plus I had to squeeze in walking Duncan and celebrating National Almond Day
That’s a Jesus long day, people

I love almonds. They aren’t my favourite nut – cashews & peanuts oust them from the top nut spot, but I do indeed love them.
I have almond milk lattes all the time, I do almond butter on toast, I eat them in their pure nut form, salted and non… almonds are great.
They have that good kind of fat, they have vitamin E, they boast fibre, protein and magnesium.  They even regulate blood sugar levels and boost brain function.

There is literally nothing these nuts can’t do apparently.

So in honour of this great nut, I made one of my whimsical smoothies:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of almond butter
  • 2 teaspoons of chia seeds
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 2 ice cubes

Blend till smooth

It was exactly what I needed to fuel me through my gruellingly long day. Yay almonds!
