December 24 – Day 259

National Eggnog Day

I hate the shit that comes in the carton every Christmas season – vegan or na… bleck

This year I had a sort of a frozen chai version of eggnog

December 20 – Day 355

I am partial to a pitcher of sangria from time to time. James and I once had a pitcher in Costa Rica that cost us $70 USD that left a foul taste in our mouth.. but apart from that, it’s been nothing but a good time

It’s a simple cocktail and a great way to rid yourself of a bottle of sub par wine

On National Sangria Day, I made a simple sangria involving a cheap red wine, brandy, orange juice, mint leaves, and an assortment of fruit – including blackberries for drama

December 19 – Day 354

For National Oatmeal Muffin Day, I whipped up a batch of ‘my’ muffins.

By ‘my’ muffins, I mean, I didn’t really follow a recipe, I just followed my heart

IMG_8897

This batch involved flax seed, peanut butter, oats, salt, baking soda, OAT MEAL, chocolate chips, salt, maple syrup, slivered almonds … the usual vegan suspects

They turned out pretty good !

December 18 – Day 353

National I Love Honey Day falls so close to it’s sugar syrup cousin National Maple Syrup Day, I’m suspicious

I don’t think I can back to back talk about sugar liquids, to be honest IMG_8894.JPG

It’s a lot to ask.. but I did celebrate the fuck out of it by artfully spilling it on the counter for these pictures!

December 17 – Day 352

National Maple Syrup Day

This should be a Canadian National Holiday in which school and stuff is closed down, but I’m guessing due to it’s proximity to Christmas, that ain’t happening any time soon

I usually buy two things of Costco maple syrup a year – I put it in all my baking … and I guess I bake enough to go through this much, twice a year :

Two litres seems crazy when I think about it. Best not dwell. Here is a photo still from my boomerang I posted of pouring some on Instragram

December 16 – Day 351

I spoke too soon, last post, when I said I thought the last of my sucrose laden national holiday themes were coming to an end.

National Chocolate Covered Anything prompted one last kick at the proverbial sugar ridden cat for me!

Chocolate covered Twizzlers!

Just look at the sun beaming in on these teeth rotting little treats.. they were pretty good

December 15 – Day 350

One thing I will definitely not miss when this Celebrate Everyday… Literally project is over is having to arbitrarily eat sugary nonsense !!

National Cupcake Day will mark one of my last sucrose loaded holiday

These are vanilla cupcakes with vanilla icing with tiny sprinkles – known as Hundreds and Thousands in Australia, FYI.

Yummy AF

December 13 – Day 348

December 13 is National Hot Cocoa Day

Nabbed myself a coconut milk hot cocoa from a nearby coffee shop. The barista went through great pains to make a beautiful latte tulip design, but FILLED THE JESUS THING TO THE BRIM LEAVING ME NO CHOICE BUT TO SPILL THE BITCH ALL OVER THE GOD DAMN SAUCER WHEN I PICKED IT UP

IMG_2215.jpg

JUST LOOK AT IT! What a nightmare.

December 8 – Day 343

Seeing as there have been a few brownie themed days so far ( National Cream Cheese Brownie Day, National Blondie Day ), I reinvented the wheel this National (standard) Brownie Day, and made BOX brownies!

IMG_7303.JPG

These guys were made for the sole sake of putting them in The Ridiculous Dessert, a family favourite

You need 4 boxes of packaged chocolate mousse (and it’s required ingredients), a carton of whipping cream (whipped with vanilla and sugar), a box of brownies (baked and crumbled) and like 12 SKOR bar bars (crumbled).

In a large trifle dish, layer these items brownie/chocolate mousse/ whipped cream/ skor bar until you run out
