Day 227 being National Relaxation Day was a small miracle
Being ordained by this foolish blog to relax ! Take it easy! Do nothing? Hallelujah !
It was sunny so I grabbed a few beer from the fridge, hopped on my bike and rolled on down to Jericho beach for a change of scenery. Had a few dips, both in the ocean and in the roasted red pepper hummus, and let the sun and sand do the rest
National Play In The Sand Day
It was still smoggy and hazy in Vancouver, but warm and sunny so Duncan and I hit the beach – the Kitsilano Dog beach
I directed Duncan to play in the sand, but as well all know he is deaf
July 5th was another beautiful, 25 degree plus day in Vancouver and also, notably, National Bikini Day
I’ve been devising a Vancouver/British Columbia bucket list for myself, as I have of late, the overwhelming sensation that my time here is running out.
(Probably because it is)
I want to make sure I experience everything this side of the country has to offer because it’s so god damn far from the way better side that I don’t think I’ll ever come back this way again.
One of the items on this ‘to do’ list was Wreck Beach – Vancouver’s infamous clothing-optional beach.
I scoped it out, had a little walk up and down the shoreline, saw that it was pretty empty and mostly old gay couples and a few young families trying to raise children to not be ashamed of their bodies (no ‘modesty shorts’ in their house hold – insert eye roll and/or heart break emoji here at reference to current situation for a certain 5 year old in my life who’s mother would not be impressed what.so.ever if she were still with us)
So, although I did bring my bikini, being National Bikini Day and all, when I got there I decided to go for a swim without it …
It felt amazing – when trying to swim in open water, I am always adjusting my swim suit and it’s always more or less falling off anyway. This was a truly liberating experience.
So thanks, good old pal Bikini, for coming along for the ride and graciously giving me some space today!
