I am partial to a pitcher of sangria from time to time. James and I once had a pitcher in Costa Rica that cost us $70 USD that left a foul taste in our mouth.. but apart from that, it’s been nothing but a good time
It’s a simple cocktail and a great way to rid yourself of a bottle of sub par wine
On National Sangria Day, I made a simple sangria involving a cheap red wine, brandy, orange juice, mint leaves, and an assortment of fruit – including blackberries for drama
Saturday night – had to work- as usual
I was able to weasel my way out of closing, though, which always brings me great joy.
I feel like I really accomplished something if I can manoeuvre someone else into staying till close while I hop in the jeep and peel out of wherever I’ve illegally parked for the past three hours
It’s the simple things, I suppose
And because I was off early, I was able to pop by my friend Steph’s house and have some chips and dip for National Guacamole Day !
I got the good shit from Whole Foods. I like it because it is very avocadoey… like you can see smushy chunks in there
It paired nicely with the $4 wine Steph got at Trader Joe’s in the states
I also boosted the cover photo from National Corn Chip day, back in January, when this blog seemed like a great idea!!
I decided some time ago that this was going to be ‘ the summer of Rosé‘
It happened when I found this at Winners :
I saw it and instantly had a fantasy of filling it with rosé reusable ice cubes and drinking out of it on Kits Beach all day with Duncan and a book
I don’t know why I imagined rosé. I guess red wine isn’t refreshing, it would be weird to put beer in it as it would go flat pretty quickly.
At 1.3 litre capacity, anything boozier than wine would mean trouble.
So maybe this list of reasons is why my mind jumped to rosé.
I picked up two bottles of rosé to have on hand for the next sunny day. But National Rosé Day arrived first.
So I didn’t get to use my new super cool thermos.
Instead I drank out of a glass like a civilized being.
I ended up drinking the whole bottle during the day.
Then going out and having some wine with dinner.
Then a cocktail.
Then back home, had another few glasses of wine.
It was a ridiculous and unnecessarily alcohol fuelled day.
I woke up the next morning completely ravaged from having had night terrors all night long. I blame the rosé
So I will be laying off the rosé and all other libations of that nature for a while
National Drink Wine Day!!!
I was super super super super super super tired from being too old to be a bartender up till all hours dealing with booze bags but I managed to pull myself together to go to a get together with a few friends.
In honour of the day I drowsily knocked back about half a bottle of wine and gave a bottle of prosecco to the hostess. Wine wine wine
