Day 103- April 13

National Make Lunch Count Day was founded by some American chain restaurant I’ve never been to, as a gimmicky marketing ploy to up their lunch sales.

Somehow, this campaign weaselled it’s way into my blog concept and had the powers of manipulation over me to make me renegotiate my whole day’s itinerary.

I was at the elementary school practicum placement and discovered that one of my client/children wouldn’t be attending today’s session and thus I would have an extended lunch break

Yippee skippee – was I ever gonna make lunch count today

I got in the Jeep and hauled ass home to spend time with my beloved Duncan

…who was actually getting along just fine without me.

Nevertheless, he joined me while I feasted on the ultimate salad:

..like, just look at it

A riveting salad, indeed, boasting:

quinoa
sesame tofu
brocolli
peppers
red onion
red cabbage
kale
carrots
beets
asparagus
avocado
walnuts
balsamic reduction

Good food, great company. Then, unfortunately, back to school. Bummer.
BUT, I had tickets to see Jane Goodall in the evening

What an incredible person. Charming and clever, brilliant and humble, gentle, kind and thoughtful. I can’t even begin to put into words what an inspiration she is – but if it helps to make a clearer picture, I’ve been doing a much better job cleaning out my recyclables before putting them in the bin and have decided to commit more effort to my vegan-y ways.

I absolutely adored her- may she live forever
